2024年8月16日(金)は、
五山の送り火に伴い、京都市内では交通規制が行われます。
 
時間帯によっては一部の道路が通行止めとなり、その他の道路も渋滞が予想されますので、
お時間には十分余裕をもってご移動ください。
 
当日は規制の少ない交通機関をご利用くださいますようお願い致します。

京都の夏の風物詩といえば、祇園祭と【五山の送り火】を思い浮かべる方が多いのではないでしょうか。
 
祇園祭は疫病を鎮める神事
そして送り火は『先祖の魂を冥土へ見送る』行事です。
 
今では≪五山≫の送り火と呼ばれ、
大文字・妙法・船形・左大文字・鳥居型
この５つの山に点火されます。
 
以前はこの五山だけでなく、『い』や『一』など、
他の文字もあったそうですが、今は五山を残すばかりです。
 
実は起源など詳しいことはわかっておらず、今でも研究されているのだそうです。
 
 
ただ、お盆に自宅に戻った先祖をもてなし、再び送り出す
各地の精霊送りと同じく、とても素敵な風習ですよね😌🌿
 
 
また、京都市内の橋のたもとにはこの時期段ボールが多く置かれています。
 
これらは決してゴミ箱ではなく
『先祖に供える食べ物を川に流す』風習があるものの、
近年は環境に配慮し、流すことなくまとめて回収している為です。
 
先祖を想い、段ボールに入れられる品は決してゴミではありません。
見かけてもゴミなどは入れず、そっと見守ってくださいね😊✨

Due to the Gozan no Okuribi, traffic restrictions will be implemented in Kyoto City.
 
During certain hours, some roads will be closed to traffic, and congestion is expected on other roads. Therefore, please allow ample time for your travels.
 
We kindly ask that you use transportation options with fewer restrictions on the day.

When it comes to the summer traditions of Kyoto, many people may think of the Gion Festival and the Gozan no Okuribi.
 
The Gion Festival is a ritual to ward off epidemics,
And the Okuribi is an event to “send off the spirits of deceased ancestors to the afterlife.”
 
Nowadays, it is called the “Gozan” Okuribi,
and fires are lit on five mountains:
Daimonji, Myōhō, Funagata, Hidari Daimonji, and Toriigata.
 
In the past, besides these five mountains, there were also other characters like “い(I)” and “一(One),” but now only the five mountains remain.
 
 
The origin and other details of the event are not well understood and are still being researched.
 
However, just like the spirit-sending customs in other regions, where ancestors who returned home during the Obon festival are welcomed and then sent off again, this is a very beautiful tradition, isn’t it? 😌🌿
 
 
Also, during this period, you may see many cardboard boxes placed near the bridges in Kyoto City.
 
These are not trash cans,
but are due to a tradition of “sending food offerings to ancestors down the river.” In recent years, out of consideration for the environment, these offerings are collected without being sent into the river.
