2024年7月24日(水)は、
祇園祭の関連行事に伴い、京都市内では交通規制が行われます。
 
時間帯によっては一部の道路が通行止めとなり、その他の道路も渋滞が予想されますので、
お時間には十分余裕をもってご移動ください。
 
当日は規制の少ない交通機関をご利用くださいますようお願い致します。

7月24日(水)9時30分からは後祭(あとまつり)山鉾巡行です。
 
7月17日(水)に執り行われた、前祭(さきまつり)山鉾巡行の順路とは逆回りに、
全11基の山鉾が烏丸御池角から順に巡行します。
 
その後、16時頃から四条河原町付近の御旅所を起点に還幸祭(かんこうさい)が始まり、
いよいよ祇園祭もフィナーレを迎えます。
 
 
祇園祭といえば山鉾巡行がメインと思われがちですが、
神事の中心は7月17日の神幸祭(しんこうさい)と7月24日の還幸祭だということをご存じでしょうか？
 
 
17日の神幸祭で、八坂神社から３基の神輿に御神霊が遷され、
四条河原町付近の御旅所に移られます。
これは『八坂神社という神域を超えて氏子の住むところまでお出ましいただき、神様に疫病を鎮めていただくため』
とされています。
 
そして、神輿に乗った神様が通る道を清めるために山鉾巡行が行われ、
24日の還幸祭で３基の神輿は八坂神社へとお帰りになられます。
 
 
還幸祭が終わると、翌25日(木)に八坂神社で狂言の奉納
28日(日)には神輿洗と続き、31日(水)夏越祭をもって１ヶ月間の祇園祭が終わります。
 
 
祇園祭＝山鉾巡行ではなく、
古くから大切にされてきた信仰や、変わらず受け継がれている伝統を是非、

Due to the related events of the Gion Festival, traffic restrictions will be in place in Kyoto City on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
 
Some roads will be closed at certain times, and other roads are expected to be congested. Please allow plenty of time for your travel.

The Ato Matsuri (Later Festival) Yamahoko Junko will start at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 24.
 
Unlike the route of the Saki Matsuri (Earlier Festival) Yamahoko Junko held on July 17,
the 11 floats will parade in reverse order starting from the Karasuma-Oike intersection.
 
Afterward, the Kankosai (Returning Festival) will begin around 4:00 PM,
starting from the Otabisho near Shijo-Kawaramachi, marking the finale of the Gion Festival.
 
 
Although the Yamahoko Junko is often considered the main event of the Gion Festival,
did you know that the central religious events are the Shinkosai on July 17 and the Kankosai on July 24?
 
 
During the Shinkosai on the 17th, the deities are transferred from Yasaka Shrine to three portable shrines (mikoshi) and moved to the Otabisho near Shijo-Kawaramachi.
This is done “to have the gods visit the places where their parishioners live and to ask the gods to quell epidemics.”
 
The Yamahoko Junko is then conducted to purify the roads that the deities will travel,
and on the 24th, the Kankosai returns the three mikoshi to Yasaka Shrine.
 
 
After the Kankosai ends, a kyogen performance will be offered at Yasaka Shrine on the 25th (Thursday),
followed by the Mikoshi Arai on the 28th (Sunday),
and finally, the Nagoshi-sai on the 31st (Wednesday) will conclude the month-long Gion Festival.
