京都市内では祇園祭も大詰め。
前祭(さきまつり)も終わり、今週24日水曜日には後祭(あとまつり)山鉾巡行を迎えます。
 
祇園祭は7月1日～7月31日、1ヶ月間にわたる八坂神社の例祭です。
 
疫病を鎮めるために祈ったことが始まりとされ、
現在では世界無形文化遺産に登録されています。
 
前祭と後祭、山鉾の巡行が２回行われる今のスケジュールは、
実は10年前に復活した『本当の祇園祭』の姿だいうことをご存じでしょうか😯‼️
 
昭和の高度経済成長期、
京都市内の交通を1ヶ月に2度も止めていいものか？
京都に観光を誘致するためには、山鉾巡行は1日にまとめたほうが良いのでは？
など、様々な理由から、本来は分かれていた巡行を１回にまとめられたそうです。
 
約半世紀後の2014年、再び前祭と後祭の巡行を分け、
歴史ある形が復活しました。
 
 
時代の移り変わりと共に、価値観や習慣は日々変わり続けていきますが
先人の方々が残してくださった文化を大切に受け継いでいく😌✨
 
その文化や歴史を現代の私たちが自分自身で感じられる事は本当にありがたいことだなと思います🌿

As we approach the end of July, how is everyone doing?

 
 
In Kyoto, the Gion Festival is also reaching its climax.
The Saki Matsuri (Former Festival) has ended, and this Wednesday, the 24th, we will have the Ato Matsuri (Later Festival) Yamahoko Junko (float parade).
 
The Gion Festival is the annual festival of Yasaka Shrine, spanning the entire month from July 1st to July 31st.
 
It is said to have started as a prayer to calm epidemics, and it is now registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
 
Did you know that the current schedule, with two float parades for the Saki Matsuri and Ato Matsuri, is actually the restored “true Gion Festival” that was revived ten years ago? 😯‼️
 
During the high economic growth period of the Showa era, there were various reasons for consolidating the originally separate parades into one,
such as concerns over stopping traffic in Kyoto twice a month and suggestions that a single parade might be better for attracting tourists to Kyoto.
 
In 2014, nearly half a century later, the Saki Matsuri and Ato Matsuri parades were separated again,
reviving the historical format.
 
 
As times change, values and customs continue to evolve, but we cherish and inherit the culture left by our predecessors. 😌✨
 
It is truly a blessing that we can experience such culture and history ourselves in the present day. 🌿
