祇園祭の関連行事に伴い、京都市内では交通規制が行われます。

時間帯によっては一部の道路が通行止めとなり、その他の道路も渋滞が予想されますので、

お時間には十分余裕をもってご移動ください。

当日は規制の少ない交通機関をご利用くださいますようお願い致します。

7月14日(日)は、『長刀鉾の稚児行列』
 
7月15日(月・祝)・16日(火)は、『宵山』
 
7月17日(水)は、『山鉾巡行』と続きます。
 
 
特に15日(月・祝)・16日(火)は、河原町周辺は車両通行止め、歩行者天国になります。

屋台露店が並びます😆🙌
 
京都市内では、烏丸通や河原町通といえば大動脈のような主要道路。
その大動脈が歩行者天国になるこの日は、
大勢の人で通りが見えなくなるほど、世界中から沢山の方が訪れます。
 
 
露店のワクワクはさることながら、
なんといっても、山鉾のすぐ側まで近づくことができるのは宵山だからこそ。
 
祇園祭は『動く美術館』とも呼ばれるほど、山鉾の懸装品１つ１つが絢爛豪華で歴史あるもの。
その懸装品を間近でじっくり見せていただける機会はとても貴重な機会です😌🌿
 
 
ユネスコの世界無形文化遺産にも登録されている祇園祭
宵山が終われば、17日(水)は山鉾巡行が控えています。
 
宵山で間近に見た山鉾が、人の力だけで動く様はまさに圧巻。
 
 
昨年2023年の山鉾巡行の人出はなんと、15万人！
 
京都在住のスタッフ曰く、
「この数日は７月の気温と群衆の熱気が合わさり、１年で１番暑い」そうです🫠

From Sunday, July 14th to Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, traffic restrictions will be in place in Kyoto City due to events related to the Gion Festival.
 
At certain times, some roads will be closed, and other roads are expected to be congested, so please allow plenty of time for your travels.
 
We kindly ask you to use transportation with fewer restrictions on the day.

On Sunday, July 14th, there will be the “Chigo Parade of Naginatahoko”.
 
On Monday, July 15th (holiday), and Tuesday, July 16th, “Yoiyama” will take place.
 
On Wednesday, July 17th, there will be the “Yamaboko Junko” procession.
 
 
Especially on Monday, July 15th (holiday) and Tuesday, July 16th, the area around Kawaramachi will be closed to vehicle traffic and will become a pedestrian zone.
This means…?
 
That’s right!!!
Street stalls will line the streets 😆🙌
 
In Kyoto City, Karasuma Street and Kawaramachi Street are major thoroughfares. On these days, when these main arteries become pedestrian zones, the streets will be so crowded that you won’t be able to see the road, with visitors from all over the world.
 
 
The excitement of the stalls is one thing, but what makes Yoiyama special is the chance to get up close to the Yamaboko floats.
 
The Gion Festival is called a “moving museum” because each decoration on the floats is splendid, luxurious, and historically significant. The opportunity to see these decorations up close is very precious 😌🌿.
 
 
The Gion Festival, registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, will culminate with the Yamaboko Junko procession on Wednesday, July 17th, after Yoiyama.
 
Seeing the Yamaboko floats, which you saw up close during Yoiyama, being moved solely by human power is truly impressive.
 
 
In 2023, the Yamaboko Junko procession attracted a crowd of 150,000 people!
 
According to a staff member living in Kyoto, “These few days combine the heat of July with the enthusiasm of the crowds, making it the hottest time of the year” 🫠.
